NursePlain

Nursing roles, licenses, and pathways — explained in plain English.

About NursePlain

NursePlain is a small reference site for people comparing nursing roles and education pathways in the United States: LPN versus RN, ADN versus BSN, and the bridges between them.

It's written for the person at the beginning of the process — a high-school senior, a career changer, a working LPN wondering what the next step costs in time and effort. Each page answers one specific question and cites primary sources such as the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, and federal workforce data from HRSA, so you can verify anything we say.

An honest note about what this site is and isn't: these pages are reviewed reference material — explanations of terminology, licensure, and how processes work. They are not professional, medical, legal, or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for talking to your state board of nursing, an admissions office, or an academic advisor. Licensure rules vary by state and change over time; always confirm details with your state board of nursing before making decisions.

Questions or corrections are welcome — accuracy matters more to us than volume.

This site is an independent reference site. It is maintained with automated tooling and periodic human review, not a full-time editorial staff. If something here looks wrong or out of date, write to [email protected] and it will be corrected.
